Biography

Melanie Lynskey (born May 16, 1977) is a New Zealand actress best known for her starring turn in Peter Jackson's Oscar-nominated movie Heavenly Creatures (1994). Biography Early life Melanie Lynskey was born in the city of New Plymouth, New Zealand. She has four siblings; three younger brothers and a younger sister. Lynskey developed a love of acting at a young age; her dream was to be a stage actor in Wellington, New Zealand. Career In 1993, an inexperienced Lynskey was discovered by Fran Walsh and immediately cast alongside Kate Winslet in Heavenly Creatures, a true-life crime story set in.

Accomplishments

Making her award-winning debut at 16 alongside Kate Winslet, New Zealand native Lynskey wowed audiences with her explosive turn as a 1950s teen who conspires with her best friend to carry out a scandalous crime, in Peter Jackson's Oscar-nominated Heavenly Creatures (1994). Despite a three-year break spent completing high school and relocating to the States, Lynskey made a welcome return to acting when she played Drew Barrymore's stepsister in the acclaimed Ever After (1998). Parts in Detroit Rock City (1999), But I'm a Cheerleader (1999), The Cherry Orchard (1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Snakeskin (2001), Stephen King's "Rose Red" (2002) (mini), Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Abandon (2002), Shattered Glass (2003), Park (2006), Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and "Comanche Moon" (2008) (mini) followed. In addition, Lynskey - who resides in Los Angeles - appears frequently on the Emmy Award-winning "Two and a Half Men" (2003), as Charlie Sheen's endearingly offbeat neighbor, Rose.
