Melanie Lynskey (born May 16, 1977) is a New Zealand actress best known for her starring turn in Peter Jackson's Oscar-nominated movie Heavenly Creatures (1994). Biography Early life Melanie Lynskey was born in the city of New Plymouth, New Zealand. She has four siblings; three younger brothers and a younger sister. Lynskey developed a love of acting at a young age; her dream was to be a stage actor in Wellington, New Zealand. Career In 1993, an inexperienced Lynskey was discovered by Fran Walsh and immediately cast alongside Kate Winslet in Heavenly Creatures, a true-life crime story set in.
AccomplishmentsMaking her award-winning debut at 16 alongside Kate Winslet, New Zealand native Lynskey wowed audiences with her explosive turn as a 1950s teen who conspires with her best friend to carry out a scandalous crime, in Peter Jackson's Oscar-nominated Heavenly Creatures (1994). Despite a three-year break spent completing high school and relocating to the States, Lynskey made a welcome return to acting when she played Drew Barrymore's stepsister in the acclaimed Ever After (1998). In addition, Lynskey - who resides in Los Angeles - appears frequently on the Emmy Award-winning "Two and a Half Men" (2003), as Charlie Sheen's endearingly offbeat neighbor, Rose.
